
Boris Deviatov
We are very proud to introduce Mr Boris Deviatov who joined our faculty in 1999.
Mr. Deviatov holds an M.A. and D.M.A. from The Lvov State Conservatory, Ukraine. He received his B.A. from the Tchaikovsky Music College, Ukraine. He has won several awards including First Prize in the Viola Competition of the USSR, (1976) and First Prize in the Viola Competition of the Ukraine (1980) and Conducting Prize winner of the Camber Orchestra Competition of Ukraine (1982).
Before coming to the States he was Associate Professor of Viola at the Lvov State conservatory and Music Director of the Ivano-Frankovsk Chamber Orchestra, Ukraine.
Boris' performance experience is extensive. It includes Solo Performances throughout Russia and the Ukraine from 1978 to 1985 . Presently with the Leontoviych String Quartet, he has toured all the major cities of the US and Canada, the former Soviet Union, Poland, Italy and Germany. He has performed and conducted master classes at Harvard, Princeton Boston U. Texas U, Smith College and Georgia U.
His participation in major chamber music festival include the Newport Music Festival, the Norfolk Music Festival, Westchester Chamber Music and the Victoria International Festival (to name a few).
He has conducted at the Newport Music Festival and the Ashland Music Festival as well as many other choral and chamber orchestras throughout the former Soviet Union, Poland, Czechoslovakia and Hungary.
Boris has recorded the Chamber music of Shostakovich, Schubert and Tchaikovsky, Mozart and Skoryk on several CDs for Greystone records and Koch International classics.
He is truely a valued member of our faculty and has produced some very fine students in just the few years he has been with us.
